LABOURERS' CLAIMS
WAGES INCREASE SOUGHT. Claims for a new award have been filed by tho Wellington Builders and General Labourers' Union. Except in the matter of wajes, the demands are mainly on- tho lines of the present agreement.' The wages claims, compared with the present award, are as follow: Scaffolders. 2s. 3d. nn hour (Is. 4-Jd. p us 2'.d bonus); assistants, 3s. (Is. 8!d. plus 2J!d! bonus); general labourers, 'M. an hour; tunnel men, 25. Gd-; quarry workers, 2s. 3d. (Is. 3Jd. plus 2Jd.): youths up to 17 years of ace. .£1 7s. j 18 years. *1 135.; 19 Tears. .£1 195.; 20 years, £2 SsThe proportion of youths to m?n shall be not moro than one to five or fraction of five. , . . ... Among other demands is ono tor the provision of accommodation for meals and changing clothes. The dispute will be heard by the Conciliation Council on February 2G. . Assessors nominated by the union are: Messrs, George Fraser, it. J. Eeardon, and J. M. Campbell.
