»— k — ATTACK ON A POLICE STATION. London, February 10. The attack on tho Castlemartyr police station bv a band of two hundred armed man was nindo while five policemen wero in the barracks. Shots wero exchanged, but the raiders gained admission, made prisoners of the policemen, and seized their arms and ammunition. One policeman was wounded, and is likely to lose an eve. The raiders also captured two policemen who were returning to tho barracks, and secured their arms.—Aus.N.Z. Cable Assn. MURDER TRIAL IN DUBLIN. London, February 0. Extraordinary precautions were taken at the trial of John Madden in Dublin, on a charge of murdering a policeman. Soldiers with fixed bayonets guarded all the approaches to the court, and a squad guarded the door, while twenty armed police occupied the gallery facing tho Judge—Aus.-N.Z. Cable As«n.
