A mail car belonging to Newman Bros, went over the bank this morning when on its way from Nelson to Blenheim, but the passengers suffered only minor injuries, and the driver escaped uninjured. The accident occurred in the AVangamoa Valley. Coming: round a corner the car met a laden timber wagon, and in endeavouring to pass it, touched the hub of one of the wheels of the wagon and overturned. .The car fell about 10 feet and some of the passengers were pinned beneath it. A telegraph party was working _ near the spot, and the iMPniWrs of it, together with several returned soldiers on a second car, rendered assistance in extricatuig the passengers and giving first aid. .They also telephoned to Nelson for doctors, and two med : cnl men went out. Two of the passengers continued their journev to Blenheim. These were Miss M'Fadden. of Lee Street. Blenheim, who had her face and legs rather badly cut. and an elderly man, who did not need medical attention.

Five persons were admitted to the Nelson ITnuiital. namely. Mr. Urinh Blanchett, Mr. Moran, Miss Satchell. Miss Glynes, and Mrs. Ferment. The patients are mostly suffering from bruises, and .vo-nll expected to bo able to - leave the Hospital soon. The car received some damage, one wheel being smashed.
