» ■( FATAL TALL FROM A BOG-CART. Edwin .Tames Beavis, aged 72 years, a retired farmer and an old resilient of tho Upper Tlutt, yesterday met his death while riding through Trentliam in a dog-cart. A voung man named Patrick Burns was-driving, and deceased was sitting on the splash-board. They were proceeding io Herotaunga, aud whilo passing along the main road, Trentliam, the old man fell from tin; cart' oil to his back, fracturing his skull. Information was conveyed' to the camp and an ambulance was sent to take the injured man to the hospital, but ho died before he got there. After life had been pronounced to bo extinct the bodv was placed in the morgue. Deceased was the father of a very large family, iiinl his wife resides near Maidstono Park. An inquest will be held. AN ELDERLY WOMAN'S DEATH. An inquest was held bv Mr. W. G. Uiddell, S.M., at the Magistrate's Court yesterday touching the death of Laura Ann Golden, an elderly woman, who was found <leail in her home at 15:) Tory Street on Tuesday morning. The medical evidence given by Dr. Kington Fyft'e was to the eft'eet that death was due to early gangrene of the legs, complicated with kidney disease and pericarditis. A verdict was returned accordingly. DOUBLE DROWNTNG ACCIDENT. Hy Telcprr-H—'Prcsp Annotation, Wanganui, February 11. A double drowning accident occurred at Opokoporto landing, thirty miles up the Wanganui River, to-day, the victims being Uicluird George Neal, aged 18, and Enid Bavlv. aged 10, whose mother resides in Wanganui. It ik understood that the girl, who was spending the holidays on her uncle's f.wui, got into difficulties while bathing, and Neal endeavoured to save tier. The bodies have not been recovered.
