NURSERYMEN'S CONFERENCE
The annual conference of the New Zea- ■ land' Nurserymen's Association, is to open in Wellington on January 28. Owing to '• the epidemic, the district councils were all "late' in holding, their annual meetings, : "and some of the reports and remits not, -being to hand as yet, the full'orogramme cannot'lje submitted now. The following, however, are some of the items that , will receive'- attention:—After-war conditions in : otlier lands, and > its bearing on New Zealand; to be introduced by a review ,by Mr. A.; W. Hamil- . ton. The tractor in relation to horticulture, discussion to be opened by a paper. Messrs. N.-Nairn, W. T. Benefield, and ■ A. M'Donald .have all been asked to contribute papers. I,.'?'- Remits have been received'as follow.:— ■'That the difference between the price 'of a single plant and dozen rata should not exceed 121 per cent." "That the > Government be asked to take effective ' steps to prevent the. introduction of citrus • : canker into New Zealand." "That, the . . .Government be-asked to call the Varieties ; Conference together as soon as possible.'' s . "That, in the interests of the' returned r' soldiers, the Government be asked to lay . 'out suitable orchard areas in fruitgrowing districts." : "That Colonel Mayfiebl's I '. appeal on behalf of the Horticultural T?e- ---■ lief Association be considered." ■ "That 'tlm constitution bo reviewod. with a view' to any necessary' alterations being made."
