THE TURKS APATHELIC
TIRED OF GERMAN GUABDIANSHIP. (Rec. November 30, 7.35 p.m.) Paris, November 29. General Bailloud, from Palestine, states that the Turks aro apathetic, counting upon the British to rid them of the German guardianship. At daybreak, before Gaza, a Turkish general jumped the trenches, followed by his orderly, entered the British lines, and explained that the Dardanelles had taught him to 'appreciate bis adversaries. Later, in Rumania, his division would not co-operate with the Germans. His corps had lost 12,000 out of 16,000, while tho Germans had lost a,bout a dozen. He considered the best course now was to preserve his lifo in the interests of Turkey, instead of stupidly sacrificing it for Germany's advance.—"The Times."
