WAR MEMENTOS

SHELLS FROM THE WEST FRONT. An instalment of New Zealand's official collection of war mementos is on exhibition at the Dominion Museum at the present time in the shape of shellcases and fragments. Thej are British shells, which were'' fired at the Germans on the West front, and were picked up by members of the New Zealand Expeditionary Force after New Zealanderg had captured tho enemy position.. The shell-cases and fragments include both shrapnel and high explosive. Tho smallest are i field-gun shells, about tlnee inches in calibre, and the largest are eight-inch shrapnel. The collection will bo added to from time, to time. The accommodation in the present Museum buildings is unfortunately very limited, and it may not be possible to display a' large collection.
