A NATIVE WOMAN'S DEATH

A strange ense is occupying the attenf ion of the N.inier police at tho present time, and until to-morrow, when an inquest is to be held, it is impossible to Bay what will be the outcome of their investigations. On August 11! a Native woman died, and she was buried three days later. She is said to have been ill for a week, more or less, prior to her death, but no doctor attended iirr, and her death was not at that lime registered. Owing to rumours that the deceased had been seen in a bruised stato prior to her death the facts were submitted to the Minister of Internal Affairs, I who ordered the body to be exhumed for Ihe purpose of medical examination. This was done by Detective-Sergeant Ward and a party of police, the .body being taken up on Friday last, and subjected to medical examination by Dr. .Tohnston. As a-result of these proceedings an inquest is to be held to-morrow morning.
