EXPRESSMAN INJURED,

An expressman named Giles, resident in Taranaki Street, was injured m Adelaide Bond on Saturday evening. He was standing in his vehicle driving when a trnmcur struck it, causing him to tall heavily on tho road. Dr. Hardwick Smith was passing at the time, and he put the man into his motor-car and drove him at once to the hospital. t»ilcs was hurt about the head and hip, but last night he was reported to be uoing well.

Thomas Ryan, a baker, was run over by coal trucks in the railway yard last night, and died this morning. FOUND DROWNED. Foxton, J- , ; H. Josepli M'Kay, aged about H8 years, was found drowned in the Manawatu River near Foxton, about 5 o'clock this evening. His relatives reside in Greymouth. Deceased was at one time connected with tho Bank of New Zealand ou the Wtst Coast and at Wanganui, and was a wellknown athlete.
