ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES

EXPRESSMAN INJURED,

An expressman named Giles, resident in Taranaki Street, was injured m Adelaide Bond on Saturday evening. He was standing in his vehicle driving when a trnmcur struck it, causing him to tall heavily on tho road. Dr. Hardwick Smith was passing at the time, and he put the man into his motor-car and drove him at once to the hospital. t»ilcs was hurt about the head and hip, but last night he was reported to be uoing well.

COLLISION ON HUTf ROAD. A man, whoso name, it is believed, is O'Lenry, was injured near Trenth.im racecourse on Saturday. He wan lidinsr n motor-cycle, and a collision occurred between his machine and a. motor Icrry. One of the man's legs was broken, and he was badly hurt generally. He was brought in to town to the Hospital later in the day. AN INJURED HORSEMAN. Brown, the jockey, who was injured at Trentliain on Saturday, is now in the Hospital suffering from concussion. He is reported to be. getting on. satisfactorily. SUDDEN DEATHS. By Telegraph—Press Association. Christchurch, July U. Joseph Martin, a newspaper seller, aged 70, fell dead this morning while ascending the steps at the entrance to the "Press" Office. A woman named Parsons was found dead in bed at Riccarton this morning. RAILWAY YARD FATALITY. Westport, July Id. Thomas Ryan, a baker, was run over by coal trucks in the railway yard last night, and died this morning. FOUND DROWNED. Foxton, J- , ; H. Josepli M'Kay, aged about H8 years, was found drowned in the Manawatu River near Foxton, about 5 o'clock this evening. His relatives reside in Greymouth. Deceased was at one time connected with tho Bank of New Zealand ou the Wtst Coast and at Wanganui, and was a wellknown athlete.
