CALAMITOUS FIRE IN AMERICA

HEAVY DEATH ROLL Bx Telegraph—Press Association—Copyrielrt New ' York, September 28. At Ardmore, in Oklahoma, a spark from a workman's hammer ignited a tank-car loaded with gasoline. From the ruins of two city blocks which were razed as the Tesult of the fire caused by the explosion, thirty-five bodies have been recovered. : Fifty persons are believed to have been crushed; to death by the fall of .the wall. A search is proceeding in a large departmental store, where, its -is feared thero aro the bodies of many girls and .women shoppers and employees of. the store. .

Fires were- caused by the flaming gasoline, which was thrown for'blocks. | Martial law has been declared. Panic followed tho explosion. Every building on either side of the' main' street ,was demolished. Over the splintered buildings for blocks 'around - flaming (''gasoline was thrown, starting' tires in the stores. ■ • , Jlescuo parties were quickly, formed. All communication with' the outside' world was cut off for five hours.Two hundred injured have .been taken to tho hospitals. . . ' '
