Tho personal effects of Count Reue .da Moaitaigu,, who became'' bankrupt last' November;. and lias since left tne Dominion, were auctioned to-day at tho King's Theatre, which was crowded. The lots comprised guns, rods, • jewellery, nicknacksj and a large quantity of boots ; and clothing. It is expected that the estimated auction value''of-£250 will he' fully realised. ■ An oil painting and a set of furs presented, to the Patriotic Fund were also auctioned, and fetched £31 ss.
Four thousand ladies sold a million miniature Union Jacks in tho Liverpool district in aid of the: hospitals containing wounded soldiers.
