MIRAMAR DYNAMITING CASE •When. Robert Stockbridge and William James. Stockbridgo appeared on remand before Mr.' D. G. A. Cooper, S.M., in the Magistrate's Court yesterday, charged with the recent dynamiting and' burglary at Miramar, Mr. P. W. Jackson, on behalf of tho latter, applied for a reduction of the- bail. Chief-De-tcctive. Boddam opposed the application, and the Magistrate intimated that he could not- reduce, tho bb.il. Tho father of the accused, William' James Stock' bridge, then wont bail for £300 for his son.' Robert Stockbridge was allowed tho same bail. Later in ' the day the two accused again came before the Court, when they irero further, charged ; with breaking and entering the premises of Henry B. Edwards, at Hataitai, on July 17, and stealing 72 pairs of boots, valued at £33. > _ ' . Chief-Detective Boddam, in asking for a remand to Wednesday nest, said that only three or four pairs of boots had oeen recovered. Bail was allowed in a further sum of £50. NEIGHBOURS' QUARRELS. Long standing disagreements between neighbours living in. Bute .Street were reviewed'.before Mr., D, G. A. Cooper, K.M., when Ada Askwith proceeded ugamst Jonah Harris for sureties of the [leace. ■ Mr. P. W. Jackson, who ap-.pea-red'for "the applicant, said that the derenddnt had recently entered complainant's house,' attempted to assault tier, and had used ''shocking language" to lier. /As complainant had been tormented previously -by defendant, and feared a repetition, "ho /wished defendant to be bound over to brap the peace; Mr: W. Perry, ;Vh6; appeared for ' defendant, said, his client and witnesses .wore prepared to give -a, total denial to • tie .complainant's, allegations.. After hearing tho evidence of both parties,'the Magistrate said ,he was of the opinion that the Harris family w-ere the cause of the trouble'on the evening in question. , The evidence - further showed 1 that. ; Harris., hat| entered .complainant's bouse ; - had-attempted to - assault her, and had used insulting language. Defendant would be ordered to enter into a bond of £10 to keep,'the, peace for twelve months, and ordered to pay'costs £2 Us.
