» ■ . . Tho ordinary meeting of the Miramar Boroueh Council was held last night. Thero were present the Mayor (Mr. F. Townsend and Councillors E. M. Stone, H. Hawthorne, .W. H. Green, and J. Pollock. .. A report was received, from tho engineer regarding the proposed installation of an electric lamp at tho intersection of Brandon and Foires Streets; costing about £11 10s. .Consideration of the matter was deferred , pending an agreement with the City Council. It was decided to purchase IDOft. of hose, stand, pipe, and nozzle at a cost of £15 155., for fire purposes for-the ICaraka Bav Road. It was also decided to accent the offer of Mr. Hnbin to store the hose on his premises. Tho borough engineer (Mr. R. 0. Fox) rcnorted • that thero were now cisven complete shelter buildings at-Lyall Bay, and a twelfth liad been recently commenced. Although no ono was at present living in these, yet thero was evidenco that they were at times used as dwellings. Many wcro fitted _ with bunks, and some, if not ail, with the usual domestic accessories. Lullington Church, Sussex, is tho smnllest in England;. It is just 16ft. square.'
