AMENDMENTS IN THE PRINCIPAL ACTS. The Marriage Amendment Bill, introduced in the Legislative Council yesterday, contains an amendment to Clauso 38 of tlio Principal Act of 1908. The clause at present reads: "Every officiating minister or registrar by whom any marriage is solemnised who neglects to register the same is liable to a fine not exceeding £50, to be recovered in a summary way." It is proposed to add after "register the same" . the words "or to forward a certified copy of. the' entry as aforesaid," and to add at tile end of the section the. words "and his name in the case of an officiating minister may be erased from tho list of officiating ministers." Tho Births and Donths Registration Amendment Bill, also introduced in tho Council, contains a provision that more than one registrar may be appointed for any district, and ii definition of a stillborn child is given. The powers of deputies are clearly set out and a number of technical amendments are m;ide.
