(Contributed by the Secretary.) , Nest week the secretary for the Volunteer Sisterhood ~'w.ill -jje organising £he : Auckland women) aridl applications may now be. addressed care of Post Office, Auckland. The names of the medical examiners for Auckland will be announced in-Saturday's newspapers. Tho same age limit applies as in other districts, namely 30 to 50, but preference is given to womeu from 35 to 40. years of age, and to those with nursing experience. All members'of the sisterhood rank_as probationers, so as not to cause any infringement cf the privileges and status of the registered trained nurse. The women who are suitable for this work are strong single women, or those without family responsibilities. Some married women who apply have four or five young children, to say'nothing of a', husband. These applications cannot be considered at- present. The Volunteer Sisterhood cannot stand for the abrogation of the primary duty of the mothers of the race. -On the other, hand, the call on strong single women, and those without family ties, is urgent and insistent. The nation needs these women, and what tho nation needs the family must resign. ' '
