Aitken), the board passed the following resolution"To the relatives of any of those connected with tlie AVellington Education Board's staff who have fallen at the post of duty the board offers its deepest sympathy. At the same time, to all, of whatever estate, who are thus linked by community of sorrow, of suffering, and of aspiration, the board offers its warmest congratulations that in the hour of supreme test (.heir beloved ones have, in the eyes of the nations, maintained the best traditions of British heroism, and when called upon to do so have •with willing surrender made the supreme sacrifice, in order that our blood-bought liberties may be transmitted in purified and deepened stream as a sacred heritage to bless generations yet unborn."
