NEW OFFICES

FOB THE HOSPITAL BOARD. The clerical staff of the Wellington Hospital and Charitable Aid Bond has taken up its new quarters in the Hospital block at Newtown, after having for some five or'six years occupied offices ill what was formerly known as Nee's Buildings , at the corner of Marion and Ghuznee Streets. Anyone wishing to communicate with the 6ecretary in person will now have to pay a visit to Wellington. South, which arrangement, whilst not so convenient for the general public, has distinct advantages as far as administrative work is concerned. The staff in question is now occupying a fine suite-of. offices on the first floor of whet is known as the Pathological Block, the newest Hospital building, which fronts the 'southern side of the main drive, and is wedged in between the Carrara Ceiling Company's factory and the General Hospital. The entrance to the offices is, however, not by the main drive, but by the lane, directly opposite the main entrance of the Newtown Free Public Library, and the suite is directly above tho_ southern end of the new out--patients' quarters. What has been all one apartment has been neatly divided by partitions of asbestos shooting, finished with whito enamel paint. The Board Room, on the'south-western corner, is a spacious sun-lit apartment, 32ft. 6in. by 17ft., and along the southern end runs a passage from which opens officcs for the secretary (Mr. J. Coyle), accountant (Mr. S. Robinson), health officers, collectors, typists, etc. Each room is well lighted, and tho glistening white of the walls and partitions gives the offices a character 111 keeping with the great institution of ivhich they aro an appendage. So far tho Charitable Aid office has not been removed from the Marion Street building. That location has been found to be very central, and most convenient for that department, and it will be retained there at least until the termination of the lease 111 August next. The first Board meeting to be held in the new Board Room will tako place on Thursday next.
