Mr. John Brooka Mason, -an- old and highly-respected settier. .The deceased' gentleman was a native of Leicester, England, and lived at Cape Town for some time before'he arrived in Auckland, about hah? a century ago. He went to the Thames when gold was discovered, and remained there until about fifteen years ago, when he settled at Epsom, Auckland. Two years ago he revisited his native town. Mr. Burbidge became seriously ill while at Cambridge, and is now on his way baok to Now Zealand to recuperate.
