Probably the most perplexed' pooplo in tho Southern Hemisphere to-day are the residents of Tonga: Though only 1100 miles from Auckland, it is probable that they.are still wondering why they have for weeks past been cut off from all communication with the outside world. Last Thursday the barquentine Ysabel arrived from Nukualofa, and brought news that the European population was faced with famine. It appears -likely that tho first news of 'the war, as well as lelief supplies, will bo taken to the group by tho Ysabel, which loads up with foodstuffs and returns immediately. "
