, SPEED JUDGING CONTEST. (By Telegraph — Special Correspondent.) -,'••• Napier,. August 2. • Considerable interest was taken in the Napier motor-cycle speed-judging- contest, which , took place ,on Saturday. The competitors were ignorant, of .the .route distance.or average spepd to bo maintained until'starting, and were not allowed 1 to carry watches or speedometers. A distance of 30 miles was chosen and the speeds ranged from 12 to 24 miles an hour. The results are: H. Bato (8 h.p. Matchless), lmin. 7sec. late, average''l7 miles .'an hour, 1;' C. Hows© (8 li.p.' Tlumberette), 2min. 26 sec. late, average 14 miles an hour, 2; A. E. .Erskino'(3} li.p. Humber),. 3min. 25sec. late', average 24 miles an hour, 3. A very roundabout course, was chosen, including ; some roads in very had condition, and the resists were far better than'' had been anticipated. ■
