THE JUNIOR GUP. BROUGHAM HILL BEAT PETONE. The challenge match for tho Junior Cup between Brougham Hill and Pctone was played on Saturday. Brougham Hill won by four rubbers to two, and they take the Junior Cup for the season. Tho last set of the series, the double which Edwards and Hamer eventually won, was the deciding one of the match, and as the sides were five all and deuce in tho- last game, tho excitement was intense. If the Pctono pair, Austin' and Baker, had won the stroke they would have retained tho cup, so that the issue of the whole match depended on those last strokes. The game was played in drizzling rain and one or two rackets were broken. Following were the scores, the Brougham Hill men being mentioned first in every case: — Edwards v. Austin: 4—6, 6—5, 6—3. Reoves x. Parkinson: 2—6,- 5—6. Sim v. Duncan: 6—2, 2—6, 4—6. Hamer v. Baker: 6—l, o—6, 6—4. Beeves and Sim v. Parkinson and Duncan, 6—4, 2— 6i 6 —4. Edwards and Hamer v. The Brougham Hill Club have a splendid record for the season, as will appear from tho honours Ijst following:— The men players of this club take, the shield (senior), the cup (junior), and the pennant, (third class). The other competition, that for fourth grade men players, was. won. by Victoria College. In the Ladies' Championships Hutt won the first-class competition and Brougham Hill tho second and thirdclass competitions. The Management Committee of the New Zealand Lawn Tennis Association, at tlieir meeting last week, decided to readopt Ayres tennis ball for the New Zealand championship meeting, 1914, and •decided that tho rules of tho association should be reprinted. Tho meeting authorised several tournaments, and passed acrouuts.amounting to £15 14s. lOd. ' ' .....'
