Mr. W. O. Bayliss, the well-known breeder of Holstoin cattle at Park vale, is relinquishing dairy fanning, in order to' take up sheep-farmings Mr. A. M'Doiiald, of Ngakonui, lias purchased .the, property of Mr. D. Smith, adjoining the Ngakonui Estate, together; with .the whole.of tho stock. The' property contains 2000 acres. Large numbers of sheep are at present* being. conveyed on the Wairarapa line to tho Waingawa and Wellington Freezing Works. There is Tittle doubt that this year's returns will reach re- 1 cord proportions. ■ New freezing works—tho-third within a distance of eighteen miles—are shortly, to be erected between Hastings and Napier. Mr. S. Luttrell, architect, of Christchurch, has also received instructions from Messrs. Borthwick and Sons, of the Paki Paki Freezing Works, to draw plans for tho extension of their works. ..It.is proposed to establish at least one egg-oirclo in tho Auckland province on lines similar to those now in operation so successfully in tlie south.
