MEN'S BROTHERHOOD.
The Wellington City Men's Brotherhood had for their speaker yesterday afternoon Mr. A. "Witty, who took for his subject, "Tho Ethics and Economics of Brotherhood." In his opening remarks, Mr. Witty said that those who stood for brotherhood should understand what brotherhood meant. Brotherhood was the supremo law— I "Love tho Lord tliy God with all thy heart, and thy neighbour as thy self." God was tho common Father and mother was the earth, to which the children of men had equal rights. It should not be monopolised by tho few. If all were brethren, then all men, ho urged, had equal rights to liberty. Slavory was an absolute negation of brotherhood. No man had a right to anything produced unless ho worked for it. If ho did not work for it lie was a loafer or sponger oil the industry of others. Industrial unrest, ]io said, was not brotherhood. It was not brotherly to be shaking the mailed list in the face of other nations. Thero was, he said, an absurd raco for armaments, Mr. Witty argued that thero was no need for anyone to bo forced to the back-blocks. ; There_ was abundance of good country available, Lqual rights, lie maintained, should bo given to men to make a living from the land, if all men wcro brothers. The employment question need not trouble us if we made tho land freo to all.
A MARTYR FOR YEARS. "For vcars I -was a martyr to liver complaint," writes Mrs. Corlett, 112 Clydo Street, Ballarnt, Vic., "would get dreadful sick headaches and ho unable to eat. X consulted a doctor but ho was unable to do me any good. Eventually I tried Chamberlain's Tablets and derived such benefit from them that my health is now perfect."—Advt. Tourist (landing on small island in. Hebrides, to old resident): "Who lives hero, my friend?" "Oil, just me and tho wife aiul my brither-in-law." " And what sort of a place is it?" Oh, an awfu placo for scandal." Mistress:- " I thought I told you to bring some hot water up to my room this morning, Mary? " ■ Servant: "So yer did, nnim, but I took it up last night in case I forgot it."-
