INDRA BOAT'S FLOTSAM.

FISHING IT OUT OP THE WATER, Arrangements aTe going on for another pull on tho Indrabarah at next spring rides. Concerning tho jettisoned cargo there is something new to report. Mr. F. H. Taylor, shipping manager for Messrs Dalgety and Company, who are local agents for Lloyd's, has visited tho scene, and ho states that the contractor lias made a start with getting the jettisoned cargo off the bench into Grcatford. This is a difficult matter, as tho bales of flax and hemp, casks of pelts and tallow, and cases and bags of kauri gum are strewn along the beach for some distance north and south of where the steamer lies. Whon this flotsam approaches the shoro it has to be secured and drawn out of the water. In the case of tho tallow and Selts tho caskß are placed en skids and rawn inshoro by horses. When it has been landed on the beach it is loaded on four-horse lorries, and conveyed five miles over sand and sand hills, to a depot which has been erected on the main roadside. From hero it is conveyed by means of motor lorries and other conveyances to Greatford. Tho wagons used in carting the stuff from tho beach to tho depot have exceptionally broad tires, but travelling 'over the loose 6and is very difficult. On Wednesday—the day on which the contractor oommenced his work —two big loads of cargo were landed at tho depot. Yesterday it was expected that ten tour-horso teams would bp at work.

Tenders have been called for "reconditioning" the cargo, and tho successful tenderer will be announced to-day. It is probable that the cargo will be railed to Wellington. There is quite a littlo township on the beach opposito whero tho Indrabarah is lying. Camps have been formed, and the men employed in reclaiming tho cargo from the water will live there during operations.
