LACROSSE.

I SATURDAY'S RESULTS. Proud Cup matches took iplace at the Basin Reserve on Saturday afternoon, and some interesting play was seen. Ivelburne, with a strong team which included Estcourt,- a clever English player, and Kershaw, a brilliant goal-keeper, obtained a decisive victory over Columbia by 9 goals to i. Wellington were defeated by last year's champions—Capitol—by 8 goals to 3. Capitol is now leading in cup points with 7 points, Kclbtvrao having 6 points to credit, and Columbia 5, Wellington being last with 2 points. The meeting of Capitol and Kelburne next Saturday should prove interesting. Dotails of the matches are as follow:— y KELBURNE & COLUMBIA. Kelburne were the first to soore, Estcourt finding the net in the first quarter. The second qual-tor was' more even, and there were some good passing displays on both sides. Tho Blues notched threo tether goals before half-time, and Columbia, through the agency of White and Casey, replied with two goals. On resuming, ICelburno attacked merrily, and pressed tire Columbia dofence very hard. O'Leary, Baker, and Gallagher worked haTd, but Estcourt, Hutton, and Jones ' (for the Blues) wero successful in finding the net. The Columbia attack in tho third and fourth quarters broke through repeatedly, but they 'only scored again twice, Kershaw (the Blue keeper) being much too 6afe. Hiiro and Wilson scored further goals for Kelburne, and time was called with the tally—Kelburne 9, Columbia i. Mr. A. C. Jantke was referee. CAPITOL & WELLINGTON. Wellington was not expected to win against tne strong Capitol team, but nevertheless tho Reds put up a good fight for a team with a'majority of young players. The display of lacrosse was, at times, distinctly good, and Edmanson, E. Lee, and Bowen were prominent in attack for Wellington,' whoso defence led by Ryder and strengthened by Blnckman—a Pioneer player—worked hard to keep out the Capitol forwards. The' scorers for Capitol were Andrews, R. Renkin, Hubbard, Stanton, and Wootton. who, together, notched a total of 8 goals to the three placed to tho .credit of Wellington by Ryder, Edmanson, and Bowen. THIS WEEK'S FIXTURES. Both matches on next Saturday afternoon will be played at Wakefield Bark (Dnppa Street), as tho Basin Reserve wnl not be available. The fixtures- are:— Capitol v. Kelburne and Columbia t. Wellington. These will conclude the second round of the cup conteet'.
