There aro indications that members of. sporting and athletic bodies in Welling-/ ton intend to tako a brisk part in tho approaohing municipal elections. At tho .annual meeting of tho United Hockey Club last evening a copy'of tho municipal roll was lying on tho table, ond quit© overshadowed tho minute-book. Application forms were also handed about and ' filled in during tho evening. After tho hockey business had been disposed' of, Mr. W. J. Organ' (himself a candidate for tho Eastbourne Mayoralty) reminded his fellow-members of tho club that ono of their number (Mr. ; Martin Luckie) was a candidate for* election to tho City Council. Every membor of tho club, Mr; Organ urged, should notonly enrol himself, but should urgo his friends to do so as well.

■ "Tlioto aro some old follows on that oouncil who ought to bo pushed off," said Mr; Organ frankly. "I won't give any names, but wo aught all to bo on tho roll becauso younger people aught to take some sharo in what is being done in Wellington. This, is an occasion when the United Hockey Club should recogniso and support a very old and capable member of the club. I am not only speaking for ourselves, but-for everyone we know, Wo should get on tho troll." ■ . Some of tho younger people were unaware, Mr. Organ remarked, that n year's residence in New Zealand and three months' residenco in 'Wellington entitled them to enrol. Ho reminded his hoarers that Mr. W. Perry,- a member' of tho looal Rugby Union, was .also a candidate for tho oouncil. , Roth. Mr. Luckio ond Mr. Perry, lib urged, should' be given the votes of every' athletic 111011 and votes'of all friends of, athletic men. From tho approval with which Mr. Organ's suggestions were rcceivcd, and the unanimity with which numbers of the club not alreadv on tho roll filled 111 the forms provided, there is reason to suppose tlint tbo United Hockey Club On common with other sports bodies) will do 'what it can to make its weight felt in coming municipal clcctious.
