OIL LAMPS IN THEATRES.

August 28, 9.25 p.m.) Sydney, August 28. • A number of theatrical managers are urging the rescinding of a regulation copied from the London County Council by-laws, under which the uk> of oil lamps is compulsory in tho corridors and exits of theatres and places of entertainment. Recently a lamp burst, with a loud report, in the passage of a theatre, and the audience was alarmed, a panic, however, boing averted. • In response to the representations, the Departmental XTncler-Sccretnry has promised to investigate the subject.
