Last year's committee had objected to tho idea of a New Zealand Royal Agricultural Show, but had favoured the setting up of a New Zealand Council. The majority of tho now committee; however, seemed lo consider that the advantages of having n Now ealand. Council would be more than outweighed by tho disadvantages that might come as the result of its operations. Mr. J. Beat sou proposed, and Mr. Hassall seconded-.—"That no further action bo taken in tho matter." Sir William Russell proposed, and Mr. 11. C. Chambers seconded-.—"That a sub-committee, consisting of the mover, Messrs. Lowry, F. AV. It will bo noticed in our advertising columns that Young's Private Hotel. 200 a Laiubton Quay, situated immediately at tho rear of Messrs. Hannah and CVs boot emporium, will be opened on Monday next, August 5. Mr. Young has spared no expense in making everything coinfortnblo for his patrons. Tho fact that Messrs. Strange and Co., of Christchurch, aro responsible for the furnishing, under the guidance of Mr. Taylor, the representative in this city of that well-known firm, is a sufficient guarantee of the manner in which details havo been carried out. ______^___
