ENTERTAINMENTS.

"MISS LANCASHIRE, LTD." That cheerful trifle, "Miss Lancashire, Ltd.," attracted another fairsized audicuce to tho Opera House last evening. Miss .Marie Bailies, who revels cleverly in a whirl of broad comedy as Mary Ellen Thompson, the Lancashire lass who as an aristocrat for a day keeps the audience spluttering with laughter. Her Lancashire dialect and slang, her clever imitations, and mock drama, and her sonns served to chase away the gloom cast by venterdav's weepfu! weather, and those present repaid the gifted actress's efforts by the heartiest applause. .Miss Haines is spcciallv good in her coster eharactor work. and" her "Kate Kearney" recitation was ono of the gems of the evening. "Jl-iss Lancashire, Ltd.," will be iloated at par again this evening. THEATRE ROYAL. The Theatre Royal was liberally patronised last evening, despite the heavy rain, when the new company gave its second performance. Among the "stars," Athos, a verv expert skater, stnnds out in bold relief. What he cannot do on roller skates one cannot imagine, aud his feats are enhanced by agility and grace. Others who contribute acceptably are Maio Vine, male impersonator, Jack Bonny, English specialty artist, Flo D'Orville, character comedienne, Marshal Palmer, descriptive vocalist, Rowe and Mora, magicians, the Driscolls, and Florrie and Stella Ranger. FULLERS' PICTURES. The current programino at the Skating Rink, Vivian Street, is a capital one. Tho Pathe Gazette includes a motor race on tho frozen Hudson ltiver, a National Hunt Club Steeplechase, and tho wreck of a small schooner. There are some charming snapshots of Seville, nnd pictures of tho Labrador Eskimos at home. ''A Sister's Lovo" nnd "Tho Little. Organist" are two very nice pictures, aud, in addition, there are other pictures of interest. THE KING'S THEATRE. "A Sudden Impulse" is the star picture in tho current programme at the lung's Theatre. It is the love story of an impulsive girl, whoso folly drives firm triends to combat. However, all comes well before the film dickers off tho screen. "The Little Organist" is a pretty American village romance. Tho Pathe Gazette is crowded with interest, and "Tommy as Toreador" is one of the funniest of funny pictures. NEW THEATRE. The now programme at the New Theatre in Manners Street attracted large numbers of people throughout yesterday. The various items form an entertaining variety to meet the caprices of widely varied tastes. "Bar Z's New Cook" is ono of the best cowboy stories that has yet been screened at the New Theatre, and seems to indicate that tho picture public are not yet tired of tho Western drama, as some would maintain. Navy Leaguers and those ' interested in the manoeuvres of ironclads will be interested in the film depicting the various men-o'-war of tho | American fleet. "In tlie Clutches of a Vapour, Bath" shows the well-known nnd portly John Bunny in a novel role, that cannot, fail to amuse the spectators. This programme will be repeated to-day and to-night. ST. THOMAS'S, NEWTOWN. The Fuller Proprietary ore screening a very interesting set of pictures at St. Thomas's Hall, Newtown. The story of "Tho Little Organist" is amusing—not farcical—and pleasing. It depicts rather neatly tho evil of talking about one's neighbour. Rather a pathetic tale, with a happy ending, is told in "A Sister's Love." Pictures of Seville and of the Labrador Eskimos aro very interesting, tho Pathe Gazette is entertaining, nnd tho 'comic pictures aro highly mirthprovoking. STAR THEATRE, NEWTOWN. The stirring story, "A Sudden Impulse," is tho principal attraction at the Star Theatre, Newtown. The splendid acting' of Miss Asta Ncilson is a feature of the picture. Thrilling items were "Indian Pride" and "Broncho Billie's Adventures." "Won by Energy," "Toto as Dodrkeeper," and "Tommy as Toreador" were comic numbers which were very effective. The whole programme is a good one. SHORTT'S' THEATRE. "A Dark Deception," the star item of the current programme at Shortfs Continuous Picturo Theatre, is an excellent "comic" with a refreshing touch of the dramatic in it. Tho hero, disguised as a butler, watches his rival making love to his fiancee, and enjoys the privileges of . butler combined with tho tact and upbringing of a gentleman arid man of the world. "A Florentine Drama" is a realistic and stirring tnlo of the stirring days of Italy when men like Machiavelli plotted and counter-plotted for the very enjoyment of it. This programme will ba resereencd to-day and to-night.

"A GIRL'S TEMPTATION." On Saturday next, April 27, Sir. George Marlow's Dramatic Company will open at the Opera House jn 'A Girl's Temptation,' which, it is stated, rail in London for 400 nights. Tho management say ci this play:—"The quality of the storv, combined with the incidents it unfolds and its prevailing humanity, helps to explain tho extraordinary interest taken in tho piny. Tho principal characters are closely knit with each other's fortunes, and are personally and individually ai tractive. They move, act, and have their being with a charming naturalness which results in making the story real and true. In the production of ''A Girl's Temptation,' every care has been taken in tin casting of the picce so that every character will be a portrait, and with this end in view the management has cliosen a company of several of tho best-known and most skilled artists in Australia, in addition to his recently importing three skilled artists of note direct from London." MUNICIPAL ORCHESTRA. On Tuesday evening next the Jrunicipal Orchestra arc giving one of their popular concerts, in the Town Hall, under the conductorship of Mr. Jlaughan Barnett, the city organist. The programino is a well-chosen one. Some of tho items are "Tankrede" (Rossini), "Dornroschen Ynlse" (Tscliaikowski), "Valse Tristo" (Sibelius), "Loui au bat" (Gillet), "First Svmphony" (Beethoven). Mr. Herbert Bloy will lead the orchestra, and Miss Phoebe Parsons will be the vocalist.
