"SQUIB NEWSPAPERS.". By Telscroph—Praia Association—Oopyriihl (Rec. October 27, 0.10 p.m.) Sydney, October 27. Tho Country Press Association Conforcneo, at its meeting to-day, condemned tho growing evil of squib newspapers, and decided to ask tho Postmaster-General to appoint a board of experts to determine what publications aro entitled to transmission through the post as newspapers. Sydney, October 2G. Tho executive of the Australasian Provincial Press Association has resolved to hold the postponed conference in New Zealand at the end of February or the beginning of March next. Tho New South Wales Country Press Conference has decided to recommend tho Australasian Provincial Association to consider the advisability of constituting a board to deal with tho qualifications of newspapers to obtain and maintain registration. A proposal to set a standard for training journalists was defeated.
