LONDON PERSONALS. London, August 17. Mr. Henry Cooper leaves London this week for a fortnight's holiday in France. Dr. Claude Coldicutt and Mrs. Coldicutt have returned to Auckland, after spending some years in England. Mr. M. Cope-land, of Ponsonby, is now on his way to Europe, via Vancouver, on a business visit. The engagement is announosd of Miss Peggy Dawson, fourth daughter of Mrs. B. J*. Dawson, of Carlton. Gore Road, Auckland, to Mr. R, W. Cutteridge, of Leicester (England). _ Miss Clara G. Eden, of Kelson, goes to Scotland this week, and after that to Ireland. She leaves for New Zealand in October or November, via Cape Town, where she will star for a timo with friends.

New Zealanders shortly expected in England include Mr. Alex. Milne, of Whangarei; Mr. and Mrs. Andrew- M. Campbell, of Hamilton; and Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Granger, Mrs. and Miss Carter, Miss D. Boscuwon, Mr. and Mrs. W. Gilmour. Mr. Theo Trezise, of Wellington, has just returned to London after spending some days in Norfolk with Mr. .1. Francis, of To Kuiti, Auckland. Mr. Trezise, who shortly takes up singing as a profession, is hard at work studying with Miss Lilian Tree. Mr. W. V. Hopkins, of Christchurch. solicitor, is in England for a six months' holiday, and intends to stay with rela-

tives and friends in various parts of England and Scotland before joining his brother on a Continental trip. Ho returns to New Zealand about Christinas time.

Mrs. A. Dall, who was appointed by the British Women's Emigration Association to take out a party of domestic servants last March, has returned to England, and has teen asked (o take out another party of girls on October 12, but has not, at present, decided whether she will do so. She is staving just now at tho Isle of Wight. Mr. and Mrs. ■ Walter Johnson, of Christchurch, after four weeks in London, visited friends in the North, Scotlaud, and Ireland, and are now again spending some weeks with friends in the North of England. Before sailing for New Zealand by the Otway next month, they spend a few days in Liverpool, Manchester, London, and Paris. Before leaving for New Zealand, Sir Joseph Ward was made hon. president of the New Zealand section of the Imperial Mission, and Sir John Findlay president of the Wellington branch. Tho Duko of Argyll is hon. president in England, and the Earl of Dmidonald president of tho council.

Mr. and Mrs. H. Stanley Clench, of Wellington, who have visited many parts of England and Scotland, will spend a month in Ireland before returning to London. In October they go to the Riviera, and. intend to spend Christmas with relations in the South of England. In Juno next they will leavo for New Zealand, spending three- months in America en route.

Mr. and Mrs. Moore, who were visiting relatives in Dublin and Londonderry before tho Coronation, return to Irelana rot a fixed tour of the northern counties, and come to London again early in September. Mr. Mooro has recently' been occupied with business, while Mrs. Moore has been motoring in Hampshire, Dorset, and Wiltshire, and visited old friends in the South. They return by tho India on September 22. .

Mr. Charles H. Chapman, who contested the Wellington South seat in the Labour interest in 1908, does not purpose returning to New Zealand until 1912. For some timo pasj; Mr. Chapman has been studying labour conditions in Wiltshire.

Mrs. Carbery and her daughter, Mrs. Uniacke, of Stratford, who arrived in London somo months ago, spent a month in London, participated, in Coives week, saw part of the great aviation race, havo been at Hiirlinsham for the polo matches, attended Covent Garden, and heard Melba, Tctrazzini, and Destina. They leave for Ireland shortly on a round of visits, and intend to spend October in London. Mrs. Uniacke, who has her baby with her, Fails for New Zealand by the Mooltan, but Mrs. Carbery intends to winter in Rome.
