MEDICAL CONGRESS.
Tho Australasian Medical Congress will assemble in Sydney next month. The last i meeting was in Melbourne throo years ago. At a meeting of the general committee, the president (Dr. Antill Pockley) announced that a largo programme of business had been arranged, and probably more papers would be submitted than there would bo time to go through. Business meetings are to bo held in tho mornings at the University, which, lias l>cen generously granted by tho Senate) The inaugural meeting is to bo held ill the Sydney Town Hall mi the evening of September JS, which the Gov-ernor-General has promised to attend, and ho has further expressed a liopo that Lady Denman and himself will lx> able to attend some of tho social functions. Of tho latter, (here is a fairly full programme. 'l'lio Governor-General will hold a reception, at which member? of tho congress will be present. The State Lieutenant-Governor is giving a garden party to members of the congress and a dinner to the principal officers. It is proposed by the State Government to entertain the* members at a picnic at tho Quarantine Grounds, and an excursion to Jenolitn Caves lias been arranged for visitors from outside the State. The Government aro also giving a lunch at .Waterfall Clonsumptivo ITomo to members of the congre-ss interested in that particular branch. Amongst other functions are a ball in the Sydney Town Hall, given by the president; an evening party by the ladies' entertainment committee, at the lioyal Sydney Yacht Squadron's grounds, which have been kindly placed at their disposal by the club; a garden party, by the Royal Army Medical Corps; a conversazione, by the council of the New South Wales branch of tho British Medical Association; and a garden party (it Miss liadith Walker's, Yaralln. A number of visitors are raming from other States and from New Zealand, and it is expccted that the congress will be tlis largest yet Jield*
