Tlib weekly meeting of Iho Arts' Club will be hold to-night. Artist members are particularly requested to attend.

The Sydney Furniture Trades' Society considered at its last mooting the case of an apprentice who, according to an official report, lias been discharged by bis employer for whistling "Yip-i-addy" at his work. It appears that the employer, who evidently disapproves of classical melodies, had warned the apprentice against the repetition of the offence. The musical soul nf tne boy, however, refused to be caged, and he was put outside the premises with the proverbial sack on his shoulders, ft was pointed out at the union meeting that, however grave such an error' as that eommitiod in the case might bo an employer could not discharge an indentured apprentice, lie has oivo of two coulees if ho finds the melody intolerable —he may transfer (he indentures to another employer, or he may take the. apprentice before two justices of the peace or a CVmrt, and ask for their cancellation. The secretary was instructed lo interview the employer who objected lo "Yip-i-daddy," and point out that lie is liable to heavy lines under the .Apprentices Act. It seems that in one way or the other the employer will have to face tlio music,
