The American four-masted barque Espada, 777 tons, bound from Piißct Sound to Adelaide, has been, towed into port, partially dismasted, and in a leaky condition. The vessel encountered gales in the vicinity of Samoa and sprang a leak. Her cargo of timber, however, prevented her from foundering. Refuge was sought at one of the islands, and tho wnter pumped out. When the Espada resumed her voyage further gales were met with, and. she sprang another leak. Her sails wero carried away, but with careful navigation she succeeded in reaching port. The crew suffered great hardships owing to tho shortage of stores, consequent ou the protracted voyage, ALL THE HANDS AT THE PUMPS. Melbourne, August 2. Tho French barquo Neuilly, 2186 tons, bound from Dunkirk to IKoumca, has put in here for repairs. Sho was damaged, and sprang a leak during gajes off the Cape of Good Hope twenfy-fivo days ago. Tho vessel was kept afloat by constant pumping. Only a bulkhead saved her from foundering. There was fifteen feet of water in tho forepoak on. her arrival. Tho crew had a. trying time. KAMONA'S BOILERS LEAKING, (Rec. August 3, I.U a.m.) Sydney, August 2. The Union Company's • cargo steamer Kainona, bound from West-port to Thursday Island with a cargo of coal for the warships, put into Sydney for repairs today. Tho Knmona struck violent weather in the Tasman Sea, and her boiler tubes arc leaking. ' Arrangements have been made, to send tho coal by tho Whangapc to Koepang, Java, where it will meet tho fleet.
