Weddings at Feilding. At the Presbyterian Church, Feilding, yesterday afternoon Mr. Rupert J. way, of Shannon was married to Miss ianny E. Gladstone, daughter of Mr. h. Wadstone, of i'eilding. Miss Hilda Lawrence was the bridesmaid, and Mr. Arthur bray the best man. The Rev. G. Budd performed the ceremony. After the honeymoon at Napier, Mr. and Mrs. bray take up their residence -at Shannon. At the Plymouth Brethren s Gospel Hall yesterday afternoon Mr. Olaff H. Nikolaison, of Ormondville, and Miss Mabel L. Bishop, daughter of Mrs. M. Bishop, of Feilding, were married by Mr. H. Curran. The bridesmaids wero the two Misses Nikolaison (sisters to the groom) and tho Misses Ivy and Eunice Bishop, with little Master Alfie Still as page boy. Mr. M. Nikolaison (cousin) attenued the groom. Mrs. Brough at Ballarat. ' The principal lady of the Hamilton, Plimmer, Denniston Com'pany, Mrs. Robert Brough, has, during her many visits to Ballarat, by her expert acting and attractive manner, won tor, herself a host of friends and admirers, and after the arrival of the company in Baiiiinu a reception was given in her honour. The function was conducted by the Ladies ,Art Association, and it was held at the 'City Halt. Upwards of 250 guests, including, besides Mrs. Brough, Miss Lizotta Parkes, Miss Valentine Sydney, and Mr. Denniston, and about 15 other members of the company, sat down to afternoon tea in the large hall, which was attractively decorated with garlands of greenery and wattle blossom. Mrs. Brough was received by the president of the association, and tho secretary, and escorted to the decorated platform, where the president presented her with a shower bouquet of watjle blossoms and fern, tied with heliotrope and green ribbons. The Poster Ball. Tho poster ball, to take place in the Town Hall this .evening, promises to bo one of the most interesting and successful events of the season. A great amount of troublo has beeu taken in connection with tho arrangements, and it only needs the attendance of the public to make the function a'complete financial success. The object for which it is being held—to assist •he funds of the Society for tho Promotion of the Health of Women and Children—is one that should make success absolutely certain, for' the society has been responsible for the saving in this city of many tiny lives, as well as assisting them to grow into healthy, happy children. There are over fifty firms being represented by posters, and some "of them are exceedingly original, and extremely beautiful, many of the dresses having been carried out regardless of expense. The poster march should be a 1 sight well worth seeing. There will bs a mrmbsr of fancy dresses as well.

The judges of the costumes are Airs. Wilford. Airs. Field, Airs. Alaleolm Ross, Dr. Collins, and Air. Wardell, and, dur-' iiig the poster march, they will make their decisions. Her Excellency Lady Islington will be present, and. as his Excellency the Governor returns from the south sooner than he expected, it is hoped that he will be able to be present, and. at the beginning of the second half of the programme, present the prizes to the fortunate winners.

The doors will be opened early. There has been a great demand for- tickets, and onlookers are requested to be there early in order to secure their seats. The Afercer Street door enly is open to onlookers. Feilding Notes. On Thursday last a very enjoyable surpriso party took place at Airs. Roberts' residence. The guests spent tho evening either dancing or -playing bridge. Among those present were Alesdames Horrocks. Montgomery, Alisscs Prior, Kirton; Wyatt, Hill, Long, Aloore, Alessrs. Logie, Horrocks, Gillespie, Davey, Chalmer, GoodbenoTe, Karkeet, and others. On Saturday a team from Wanganui came down to play tho Feilding Golf Club, and were defeated. Airs. Gent and Aliss Kirton gavo afternoon. tea. Among those on the links were Alesdames Gent, Harding,. Montgomery, Misses Shannon, Bruce, Aloore, Prior, Burrell, o'Hallora.n, and Alountfort. Airs. Horrocks (Auckland) is on a visit to her son, Air. L. Horrocks. Airs. L. Gorton is staying in Wellington. , ' Great sympathy is felt for the l ßev. Innes-Jones and Airs. Innes-Jones on account of the death of their thirtepil-year-old son, Alostyn Stanley, which took place at Nurse Linton's private hospital on Alouday, after a short illness. Airs. Alnckay is staying with her daughter, Airs. Fry,. Airs. Wall '(Eairanga) is staying with her mother, Airs. West, in Wellington. Airs. Guthrie and her small sou are staying in Napier. Mrs. A. G. Melba's Difficulties. A fine house at Rose Bay, Sydney, has been secured for Madame Alelba, who is now on her way out to Australia, and sho will occupy it during her season in that city. Tho Australian-prima donna is bringing her own chefr out with her, but the question of providing tho staff of servants required for such a large establishment is rather a vexed one in these days of domestic scarcity. Aladamo Melba will have with her Mdlle. Axarine, who is to live with her during the Austrian visit of the Grand Opera Company. The Russian prima donna will sing on alternate nights to tho Australian diva, and ons of the inducements to getting her to sign tho contract for tho forthcoming season was the personal assurance by Aladamo Alelba that she should bo made quite comfortable out iu Australia. Ladies will be interested to note that Airs Kolleston has just received from England a very large assortment of Hair Goods, mado of the best quality English hair, including switches suitable for hairdressing in the newest styles, which each purchaser will be taught gratis.
