MIRAMAR BOROUGH COUNCIL.

A meeting of the Miramar Borough Council was held in the King's Chambers last evening, those present being the .Mayor (Mr. John Brodie), and Councillors 11. N. M'Leod, C. Bowie, H. Richards, J. F. M'Clelland, and tile clerk (R. E. Bennett). / . A letter was received from tho Worser Bay Swimming Club, asking the council' to erect a dressing-shed on the Seatoun beach for the convenience of members of tho club. It was proposed by the club to uso the shed for the purposo of conducting lite-saving land drill, and for storing the property of the club. Tho Mayor said that if the club progressed it might bo. of material assistance to tho borough tram service. He suggested that tho old shed 011 tho beach be moved to a. more suitable site and improved. This was estimated to cost ,£lO. in order to meet tho interest 011 the expenditure, it 'would be necessary for' the council to make some levy. The matter was referred to a sub-committed consisting of Councillors Bowie, Richards, and M'Clelland. Tho Mayor reported to the council that the-largo water imains for connecting tho high and low level reservoirs aro expected to arrivo next week. A good majority oi' the ratepayers of the borough had laboured under tho impression that tho water had to be pumped into the low-level reservoirs, lie wished to make it clear that the water flowed into the. reservoirs, and it was hoped that-in it few month? three-fourths of tho borough would be supplied with water. The matter of building boatsheds on the beach in the borough was brought up by Councillor ll'Lcod. lie moved that a draft plan of an artistic and. useful boatshed be filed in the borough offices, and tha tpersons desiring to erccl' boatsheds be compelled to comply with tile design. This motion was seconded b> the Maj-or and carried. The borough engineer reported: "Tho construction of Brandon Street was completed 011 December 21. The junction of Church Street with Dundcrs' Street has been completed. The erection of tho Marino Parado seawall was commenced on January 11. It is only possible' to carry on the work at loiv tide."
