RIFLE SHOOTING.
THE MANAWATU MEETING. The principal event of the week, so far as local riflemen arc concerned is the seventh annual prize t meeting, of the Mariawatu Riflo Association, to bo held at Palmerston North. 011 Saturday and Monday (January 21 and 23). On account of this fixture, and of tho fact that the Wellington Kiflc Battalion, tho 1) Battery, tho local Garrison Artillery, and Enginears; .are in camp- just now, the Trentham rango will bo practically deserted to-morrow. Tho competitions on the programme of the Manawatu Association's meeting comprise three matches, which aro to be computed in tho championship aggregates 1 a championship teams mutch; "and tho "Ferguson Aggregate Match (to be decided 011 the aggregate scores of tho first five matches, excepting those made at 700 yds. range). The prize list is a generous one and should attract n good gathering of marksmen. The Karori Eiflo Club has decided to forego its weekend competition at Trentham 011 account of tho Manawatu 'meeting.
