SYDNEY COMPLAINTS. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright (l!ec. January 18, 0.5 p.m.) Sydney, January 18. A'deputation of suburban aldermen has requested tho Premier to limit tho prico of gas. One of tho depntatioiiists stated that gas cost less than a shilling a. thousand feet to produce, and yet tho monopoly charged three shillings and ninepence a thousand feet for it.
Mr. M'Gowan said ho was entirely in sympathy with the deputation, but he did not believe in half-way measures. Ho would look into the matter and see if there was justification for taking tho half-way action suggested. If the Government remained in power it would face the matter so that everybody would bo satisfied.
Mr.' M'Gowan also suggested that the Government would deal with the limitation of tie prices of food.
