At 'the annual meeting of. the Master Builders' Association the * opinion was expressed that owing to the shortage of labour. the money that would be spent .on buildings this year would jiot exceed that of last year. It was. trusted, therefore, that experiencei would., , impel the (Government to obtain more immigrants.
' On the. whole, the 'settlements under the /Industj-iarDisputes Act had, it' was stated, proved, fairly satisfactory sides. Tho Workmen's- Compensation Act had not been sufficiently" long in force to judge Of its effects, but the immediate prospect undoubtedly.. was that employers would have to spend more jnoney.on insuring against claims by injured workmen. : TROUBLE BREWING. ! . Brisbane, January 18. In connection with' the trouble-in the fcuilding. trade, the; secretary of the Builders' Labourers' Union' declared that he ■would'not be surprised if all Australia, po far as, the building trades are conperned, was aflame within ; n week.
