ROMAN CATHOLIC CONFERENCESPEECH BY CARDINAL MORAN. lij Telesraph—Press Association—Copyright (Rcc. January 17, 9.45 p.m.) Sydney, January 17. A Roman Catholic education conference, convened by Cardinal Moran, has been opened. It consists of representatives of the clergy and tho Roman Catholic teaching orders. The objects are to discuss education generally, and safeguards necessary in the interests of Roman Catholic children and schools in what is termed the educational crisis, and to consider the attitude to be adopted in connection with bursaries and scholarships. January 18, 0.55 a.m.) Sydney, January 17. ■ Cardinal Moran, in opening the Congress, said the enemies of the Church were seeking to undermine the very foundations of Christianity, and had vowed the total destruction of the Church.
