TROUT-NETTING AT ROTORUA.
, C ' DETRIMENTAL'' TO FLY-FISHING.. The Government's trout-catching operas tioris at Rotorua in connection with the curing business, -v;hich.has been established there, includes, according to information received in "Wellington, 'the netting of trout. round the niouths_ of the streams flowing into the lakes. This practice is held to bo highly detrimental. to flv-fishing oil the streams in question, as it prevents the tront proceeding up-stream when they are so disposed, and impoverishes the waters which are' used for flyfishing (the true sport). One who knows the district thoroughly states that the trout in the lake arc plentiful enough without netting tho mouths of the streams, and the quantity caught' by trolling at this time of the year, should amply' supply the new curing establishliient without resorting to the method mentioned. It 'is stated that ,if the streams flowing into the lakes are to be systematically netted it is pretty safe to conclude that Eotorua. will very rapidly deteriorate as a. resort- for the disciples of Izank Walton..
