JIo was, however, .ordered to pay 17s. fid. medieai fees, in default threo days' imprisoument. At the I'etone Police Court yesterday morning before Jfr. K. Mothes l , J.P., Albert Gilbert was charged with insobriety, lie was lined -10s., in default forty-eight hours' imprisonment. « Tho'monthly sitting of the Upper Hutt S.M. Court was held yesterday morning, tho presiding Justices "were Messrs. Lay and Davis, R. Lung proceeded ngninst K. Sullivan for grazing fees,'ami after hearing considerable argument, the case was dismissed. All ordinary civil business was adjourned. . The Rev. J. D. "Russell presided at the monthly meeting of tho Hutt No-License League, held in St. Augustus's Hall last evening. Mr. W. Sussex (organiser) gavo a short address ou the outlook for tho 'year, mid expressed the opinion that men could be made sober, by law. although 'there was nn extremely popular opinion to the contrary.
