(From Our, Special Correspondent.! Masterton,"January IG. The overdraft of the Masterton A. and P.'. Association should bo -£5-100.- It was incorrectly stated in Saturday's report of tho meeting! The chairman-of the Finance Committee thinks tho finances of tho association in a very'satisfactory condition., Mr. William Lenz, the Masterton apiarist, has now' no fewer than' 1200 colonies of bees,.situated in eleven different parts of tho district. Tho output of honey this year is likely to bo considerably larger -than lost year, the season having been more favourable. The Masterton A. and P. Association decided on Saturday to invite the Primo Minister and-members of the Cabinet to be present at tho opening show at Solway next month. ■ " The Masterton Mounted Rifles, who have been in camp at Castlepoint, returned to their homes at the end of last 'week, having spent a profitablo time\at the coast. On Wednesday last a sports meeting was held. A gale was experienced on Thursday night,.which levelled a number of tho tents. Splendid entries'havo been received by the Wairarapa Amateur.Swimming Club for the swimming carnival to bo held at Masterton on Anniversary Day. A number of . entries havo also been received from Wellington. ; Invitations have been issued for a picnic to bo held at tho new' Solway' show grounds on Thursday npxt' in connection with the Masterton A. and P.. Association. Tho object of the reunion is to popularise tho grounds with tho residents of the district. Addresses aro to-be delivered by Messrs. Buchanan and Hogg, M.P.'s,. and by prominent members of the association. . Tho Masterton Rifles will shortly- go into camp on tho old- show grounds, in' tho vicinity of the town.. • Inspector Ellison, officer' in charge of the Wellington Police District, is at present on a visit to Masterton. Tho statement filed in the estate of William Sympnds, labourer, of Masterton, who has been adjudicated bankrupt, shows liabilities amounting to £13 17s. 3d., and asset's nil. Great preparations have been made for the Wellington Provincial Lawn Tennis ; Championship meeting, to be opened hers on Saturday next. The courts, are ,in good playing order, and' everything points to a favourable meeting. • ..Farmers in the district have been notified by tho officers of the Agricultural Department that they rnnst commenco poisoning operations on January 28. The general opinion is that the date is somewhat early, as'settlers will experience soino difficulty in moving their stock. Captain and Mrs; Adams, who. have been for some months in clmrgo of the local corps of tho Salvation Army, and have done good work, were Tarewell-id on ■Sunday. The names of tlieir successors havo not yet been announced. So far this month, rain has fallen on only three days in Masterton, and tho quantity registered lias been just ono inch. ■ .Tho Masterton Trust Lands Trustees liave decided to place tho Town Hall at tho disposal of. ono of the members (Mr. H. C. Robinson) free of charge, to enable him to arouse interest, in tiie affairs of tho trust before the closing of the electors' roll. i Local shareholders in tho Worksop ,dredge will be interested to know that the latest return from the dredge shows that 51oz. of gold has been recovered fot 112 hours' working.
