A PROBLEM OF SUMMER.
SCHOOL AND RESORTS. "The problem of Sunday, school attendance ill the .hotter'districts," runs'the report of. a committee - to. the Primitive Methodist Conference yesterday, "is being grappled with in the Commonwealth, and demands a measure of investigation here in New Zealand also. Continuing, the report declares that there must certainly l>a a solution of the difficulty raised by tho falling away of attendance in some districts during the summer. As an example, it was mentioned that at one, of the best schools controlled by the church no less than 80 per cent, of the scholars were absent on one Sunday. This the committee suggested should arouse them to formulate a scheme with the idea of reaching the number, who were presumably met on the beaches and at various sea-side re-sorts when absent from Sunday school. Was it possible, the committee asked, to formulate a plan of beach and park services for children. This might meet' the position which now arose during a certain period of the year. ' Ultimately the conference referred the ■matter to a special committee for further consideration.
