AUCKLAND FISHING SEASON.

GOOD SPORT AND BIG CATCHES. (By Telegraph.—Special 'Correspondent.) Auckland, November 2. The Auckland fishing season opened yesterday, and first-class sport and big cat):hes are reported from Rotorua, Taupo, and from the well-known rivers. At Rotonia the fish for the past five years have, not been in such fine condition as yesterday. Five and sis pounders were . frequently in evidence, and four pound fish, in excellent condition, were common. Mr. Brackebush and partv secured 60 fish, Messrs. Hunter Weston and party 30, Judge Jackson Palmer and party 36, Mr. Crowther and party 27, and other parties from 12 to 22. -U Tokaanu, Lake Taupo, Messrs. Jones and Butler in an hour and a half landed 23 fine rairibow trout, averaging BMb., the largest being 131b. The sea fishing is also in full -swing, and parties of anglers are out on Waitcmata Harbour daily. Some anglers ar<nie that a kahuwai gives better sport than a trout and some big hauls have been made within the past week.
