Mr. William Snow (states a Press Association telegram) died at Outram yesterday morning, aged 72. He was born in London in 1838, and emigrated with his parents to New South Wales in 1841. In 1851 he went' to tho first gold "rush" at Summer Hill Creek, and tuonce to Turon. In May, 1853, he was at Bendigb, and Bandicoot Gully, in Victoria, lator going to Ballarat, where he was at the time of the riots. Later he started a business in Melbourne, but the Dunstan "rush" in 1862 attracted him, and he camo to New Zealand. The following year he began storekeeping at North Taieri, and shortly afterwards at Outram. He has filled every position in the district—member (and chairman for four years) of the Taieri County Council, chairman of the river, town, and domain boards, chairman of the Otago Education Board, chairman of the Outram library, and member of the Licensing Committee. He belonged to tho Masonic, Oddfellows, and Foresters' Orders.
