James Buskin Robertson was charged in the Magistrate's Court • yesterday with unlawfully degerting his wife, Mary Ann Eobertson/ at Wellington, on November 15 last, and with having neglected or refused to provide her with adequate means of support ' '■.':'" ■■■■ \ : Sub-Inspector Norwood >asked f that accused be remanded. Robertson, he said, had been absent for a considerable'time and all efforts to find him had. been unavailing until a few days ago. ..Ultimately' he was arrested at Wairoa, during-the previous week, on a warrant. Defendant had never communicated with his. wife and child since deserting them; . Mr.' A. Hindmarsh, who appeared for the' accused, stated that the man's wife was at present in.Wellington.
