Upper Italy. Navigation Society, and the Apulian Shipping Sp-o;etyr-:tb form a company.to be entitled "the Italian Society for carrying on. marine subsidised services.".. This company will'represent, it- is said, a capital of £3,200,000, and pledges itself, :pending, •of course, the" sanction of Parliament, to carry out , the services required by/the' Government in consideration of a total annual subsidy of £560,000. Admiral .Bettolo's scheme represents an ■.- annual reduction of £360,000 in subsidies, reduces also the length of the contract from. 20 to 15. years, and docs away with other objectionable features.of the original Schanzer Bill.
