The National Lifeboat Institution has put on record its high appreciation of the gallant servicc-s of Coxswain Richard Purvis and the' .crew of tho Bridlington lifeboat, in having on December 22 rescued, in a gale, the crew of seven' Uieh of 1 the brigantiha Guile of Leith, by a gift to him of an inscribed binocular glass, and to the men of gifts of money. The lifeboat and the brigantineVcrew .narrowly escape disaster on returning, and the institution specially, marked its appreciation of Coxswain Purvis's, skilful--handling' of the lifeboat in tryjng. circumstances. Mr. Purvis-already holds two medals, including the Board of Trade's, . for; saving life. ' ' <
