NAVY LEAGUE ENTERTAINMENT.

AT DAY'S BAT. A very enjoyable entertainment, given ty the.Navy League for the men of the visiting warships, took .place last, night at Day's Bay. -A large,number.of people went, across from town to attend it; and the accommodation in the pavilion was fully Used. The grounds looked exceedingly pretty, lit-up-as they were with Chinese lanterns, and ■ as . soon as the Dtichess landed the chute, was in great demand. As time was somewhat limited, a : ' Very-short programme was given; and dancing till half-past ton filled in the, remainder of the evening. In the absence of' Mr. Palmer, owing to indisposition, Sir. Dykes filled his place. Dr. Izard was chairman for the evening. The first item of the programme was a selection given by the band, of the Powerful; then followed a song by. Gunner Gillett, Miss Hardinge-Maltby recited "The Late Mrs. Hodgson," Petty Officer Telegraphist Bonner danced a hornpipe, Band-Sergeant Gooch played a piccolo solo; Mr. Dykes sang "Sandy M'Clusky," and Leading Seaman Hutton sang "Down the . Vale." After-that. dancing, took place, the.band of H.SI.S. Powerful supplying the music. Three cheers ;for the Navy, League,' and thrte for the sailors finished proceedings.

The Navy League Ball - Committee met yesterday morning, Colonel •■ Hume , presiding. Votes of thanks wore passed to; various persons who had assisted in connection with the ball, including two blue.jackets who had given valuable help in decorating the.hall.
